Burnley have completed their second signing of the summer for the development squad after it was confirmed on the club’s official website that Robbie Leitch has signed a deal with the club.

I’m delighted to sign here because it’s a club that is really going places and the fact they’re back in the Premier League is great.

The signing of Leitch, who has spent his whole youth career out in Scotland with Motherwell, shortly follows another youngster’s arrival at the club after it was confirmed that Jamie Thomas had signed a two-year deal with The Clarets in a move from newly-relegated League One side Bolton Wanderers.

It was an easy decision to make because I think Burnley are that big of a club and I can’t wait to get started now.

The 18-year-old midfielder’s arrival is another signal of intent from the club that they are not only focussing on maintaining the club’s Premier League status and consolidating their place amongst the country’s elite but they are also planning ahead and looking to what could prove to be a massively fruitful future.

Hopefully I can play regularly for the U21s this season, and keep progressing to try and challenge for a spot in the first-team as quick as I can.

Leitch, like Thomas, has signed a two-year contract with the club and has the option to extend his stay at Turf Moor by a further year in the future.
