Burnley interested in Jordan Rhodes
According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Burnley are one of many clubs considering a move for Middlesbrough forward Jordan Rhodes.
The Scottish striker has found first-team football at the Riverside extremely hard to come by this season, with both Cristhian Stuani and marquee summer signing Alvaro Negredo ahead of him in the pecking order.
Boro manager Aitor Karanka has confirmed that he would be open to seeing the out-of-favour forward depart the club in the January transfer window, with Rhodes clearly being perceived as surplus to requirements under the Spaniard.
Jordan is a player in this squad but if he wants to leave, if we receive the right offer from a club that wants to buy him, and we are happy with the deal, then fine.
But if he wants to stay here, he’s part of the squad and I’m happy. The market will see and always, once again, three parts have to be involved.
Rhodes was prolific in the lower leagues with Huddersfield and Blackburn Rovers but since his massive £9 million move to Boro, he’s been something of a flop and hasn’t quite lived up to the high expectations initially set of him.
However, if Burnley are to make their move for Rhodes, they must act fast. The report claims that fellow Premier League survival hopefuls Hull City are interested, whilst Championship quintet Norwich, Aston Villa, Derby, Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday are also said to be interested.
Celtic are claimed to be showing an interest in Rhodes as well.
