Sunderland vs Burnley – Last time out
Burnley travel to Sunderland tomorrow to take part in their first FA Cup clash of the season.
The Clarets will lock horns with David Moyes’ side in the third round of the cup for the second time in a matter of weeks. Sean Dyche’s men welcomed Sunderland to Turf Moor across the festive period and resoundingly won 4-1 due to an Andre Gray hat-trick.
However, they’ll be hoping to be in better shape at the Stadium of Light than they were when they made the trip up north two seasons ago.
Burnley were hoping to finish January in 2015 off with an important win away at Sunderland but they were thwarted by a good display from Gus Poyet’s side.
The hosts took the lead after 20 minutes as Connor Wickham powered home a header excellently. It was then not long before they snatched the second.
Patrick van Aanholt’s good play out wide helped him to find Jermain Defoe who, ever-clinical, fired home to double the advantage and seal a win.
